CNC Drill Operator/Set-up/Programmer

Open position: CNC Drill Operator/Set-up/Programmer

 

Job Summary:

Operates, sets-up, programs, adjusts and/or attends to one or more machines to perform operations to drill, bore, ream, mill, or countersink metal work pieces according to established procedures and standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and operates drill machines to perform required tasks and/or jobs.
  • Reads and interprets to understand and apply the specifications of the tasks and the desired result by evaluating blue prints, mechanical drawings, and/or instructions.
  • Translates instructions into computer commands resulting in correct functions of the machines.
  • Prepare and load raw material and/or parts into the machines according to specified procedures and standards.
  • Supervisors/tends to the machines while task are executed and make necessary adjustments to produce the desired result.
  • Inspects and/or measures finished products to ensure the process has been completed properly and within established guidelines. Seeks assistance from Quality as needed. 
  • Performs daily checks and/or maintenance of machines according to established procedures.
  • Communicates with team members and management, participating in problem-solving and providing feedback/recommendations.
  • May perform material handling duties as directed.
  • Prepares, cleans, and maintains a safe workstation/environment by complying with procedures, rules/regulations, and safety guidelines.
  • Adheres to and supports 5S 1.
  • Adheres to and supports the ISO 9001:2015 standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • For safety, performance and productivity must be able to read, write, and speak English and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated skills in operating machinery and tooling.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform above average mathematical calculations and follow work instructions.
  • High attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents, instructions and drawings.
  • Demonstrated computer skills to ensure successful computer programming.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Capacity to do repetitive work and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to follow directions, written and verbal, and to make decisions and follow through.
  • Ability to use tools and equipment applicable to the manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to qualify for and retain a fork lift license.
  • Ability and availability to work any shift and required overtime, which may include longer shifts and/or additional shifts in the workweek.

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Physically active position requiring medium to heavy work with consistent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires pushing and pulling up to 75 lbs.; requires exerting force.
  • Requires being able to stand and walk for long periods of time; 98% of the shift, including overtime, requires standing and/or walking.
  • To perform the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, squat, reach to, below or above shoulder level/overhead, lift, carry, push, pull and use hands and/or fingers to handle, grasp, manipulate, grip and use tools.
  • Essential duties and responsibilities are typically performed while standing or while intermittently sitting, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, crouching or stooping; requires reaching, pushing, pulling, and gripping/grasping.
  • Visual acuity and hand/eye coordination; requires the ability to see, talk, and hear.
  • Regular exposure to noise and vibration from pneumatic tools, moving machines, fumes, and occasionally airborne dust and particles.
  • Regular exposure to seasonal temperature changes in the work environment.
  • Requires steel/composite safety footwear that meets ANSI standards and safety eye protection at all times.
  • Hearing protection required in specified areas.
