Job Summary:

Manage assigned supplier relationships on both a tactical and strategic level within the guidelines of the Supply Management team’s goals for quality, timely delivery, and cost management.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:                 

  • Aggressively negotiate pricing, lead times, and other pertinent order terms for a diverse mix of direct materials.
  • Create and execute both spot-buy purchase orders and long term sourcing agreements to meet the needs of production, engineering, and ultimately, our customers.
  • Review, expedite, and resolve past-due orders and other material delays, regularly communicating with both scheduling and operations personnel to ensure fulfillment of customer requirements.
  • Negotiate resolution of supplier disputes on a wide range of topics, always looking for opportunities to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate directly with engineering throughout the product development process, to cost new parts, suggest design modifications to reduce cost, and ensure a smooth product development process.
  • Actively analyze market conditions, reporting notable changes to management and suggesting risk-mitigation activities as necessary.
  • Maintain a wide array of system parameters to ensure automated processes function fluidly and with the desired level of precision.
  • Occasionally assist with the management of logistical activities including parcel, LTL and full Truckload freight.
  • Adheres to and supports 5S 1.
  • Adheres to and supports ISO 9001: 2015 standards.
  • Performs other duties as directed or assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form, with a diverse audience ranging from shop floor operators to business owners; for safety, performance, and productivity, must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Firm grasp of basic purchasing, inventory management, and accounting business principles.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook applications.
  • Exceptional ability to analyze aggregated date and leverage it to improve decision making.
  • Initiative to identify, and propose solutions for, weaknesses in tactical processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, or supply chain management preferred, with 2-5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, 5-10 years of supply chain experience with a level of responsibility comparable to this role.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment; metal fabrication experience is preferred.

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment: 

  • This job is primarily sedentary but requires intermittent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, twisting, turning, reaching, grasping/gripping, and lifting.
  • This position requires the physical abilities and dexterity to operate all standard office equipment, including but not limited to: computers, keyboards, telephone, scanners, fax machines, copy machines, calculator.
  • This position requires visual, verbal and hearing acuity: must have vision ability to perform work and see a computer screen or written material; must be able to talk and hear with the ability to answer the telephone or communicate in person. 
  • Ability to work a non-standard schedule when required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Work is typically performed in a temperature controlled environment.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Requires steel toed shoes and eye protection when in production areas; hearing protection required in specified production areas.
