  Q: My seed jet engine will not start.
  A: Most likely the engine oil level is too low-check engine oil level and add oil as necessary-oil level must be on the “full” mark to engage the oil level sensor.
  Q: What type of oil do I put in the seed jet blower?
  A: Gear oil ISO (220) or equivalent.
  Q: Where is the ignition key for the gas engine on the seed jet?
  A: The key set is taped to the valve cover.

  Q: How much pressure should I be using to inject liquid fertilizer?
  A: Use less than 30 p.s.i. to reduce the amount of "splattering".
  Q: How deep should I set the spring-loaded injection rod on my fertilizer coulter?
  A: Set the rod to operate at 1/2" below soil surface.

  Q: My row unit will not penetrate soil for an even seeding depth?
  A: -Increase down pressure on row unit
-Check planter frame height

  Q: Why do the Residue Manager wheels run “deep” in conventional tillage conditions?
  A: -Planter is not level—raise the planter drawbar
-Too much row unit down pressure
-Frame height is too low—refer to planter operator’s manual
-Soil is very loose
  Q: How do I know where to set the row cleaners?
  A: -If residue is hairpinning—too shallow
-If soil is being moved—too deep
-If you see a wheel slow down once in a while—set about right
  Q: Do I take the seal out of the Residue Manager hub assembly or do I leave it in?
  A: Yes, you can do whichever best fits your operation. If you take the seal out, you must grease every 50 hours. If you leave the seal intact, fill the wheel assembly with grease before using. No need to grease again until you replace the bearing.
  Q: Which holes of the adjustment stem do I mount the Residue Manager wheels in?
  A: In most conditions mount the wheels offset, front hole and rear hole. In some conditions, the wheels perform best when mounted one front hole and one middle hole.

  Q: How do I properly “set-up” the fertilizer coulter with a “rear” knife?
  A: Center the blade on the hub, so that it is concentric when it turns. Place the knife top up to the coulter blade; so that the knife and coulter blade just slightly contact each other at the tip. Then as the coulter blade rotates up the knife, you want to have a gradual gap between the knife and coulter blade. Also the knife needs to be centered side to side on the coulter blade.
  Q: My fertilizer coulters plug with residue even though I have them adjusted properly. What can I do to prevent the residue from stopping the fertilizer coulters?
  A: In some conditions a knife scraper is needed to keep the residue from "dragging" up on the fertilizer knife. 2970-133

  Q: What can I do to "speed up" my markers?
  A: Tri-fold markers are equipped with "restricted" elbow fittings on the hydraulic cylinder, to limit the marker from rapid operation/movement. If the marker operates slower than 8 seconds; then drill out the restriction with a 1/16" bit. Adjust the hydraulic oil flow to operate the marker no faster than 8 seconds.

  Q: How much tension should I run on my spiked closing wheels?
  A: -Usually zero tension or first notch
-Adverse conditions may require more tension
-Full length of the spike should be in the soil

  Q: How can I improve seed germination?
  A: Poor seed germination may be caused by seed being too close to like residue (ex. corn following corn) which can result in alleopathic poisoning. Use a residue clearing device which moves residue instead of incorporating it into the soil to improve germination.
  Q: How can I improve soil to seed contact?
  A: If the planter unit and or frame mounted coulters are running too deep, properly adjust coulter height and ensure that in operation the planter hitch is set to the correct height (consult the planter's operator manual). If the double disc openers are excessively worn, replace the openers. If the soil is too wet, allow the soil time to dry.

  Q: How do I know when I have too much row unit down pressure?
  A: -Gauge wheels are picking up soil
-Planter frame height is too high
-Seed trench is compacted
-Residue managers operating to deep
-Excessive wear on gauge wheel tires and disc opener blades
  Q: Why does the planter have to be level for the Yetter attachments to work properly?
  A: We design our products to operate on a level planter and unless the planter is level the attachments are not going to perform successfully.
  Q: How fast should I be planting?
  A: 5-5.5mph, speed affects seed spacing and depth
