wet or heavy soils prevent the closing wheels

the trench, lightly firming it up for improved
seed-to-soil contact and enhanced germination.

In wet
or heavy soil conditions, where the closing wheels may not
finish the job, the flexible links on the new Yetter 6200
Drag Chain pull remaining soil into and over the trench,
level it and lightly firm it up. This improves seed-to-soil
contact and enhances germination. The chain also helps to
evenly redistribute residue over the row. According
to Derek Litchfield, design engineer from Yetter, “The
chain creates a seal to conserve moisture, but it leaves
the soil loose enough to resist crusting, which makes
it very effective in bake-andcrust type soils.”
Litchfield
says the chain comprises 19 heavy-duty 3/8” square
links that are beveled to pull the soil more aggressively.
It easily attaches to most popular planters via bolt-on
mounting straps. He also notes that, as with any type
of leveling device, careful attention is required when
using with herbicides or insecticides.
