Farmers
who want to increase yields in damp, no-till soil conditions will
benefit from a properly closed seed trench with the Yetter Close-Till
closing wheel system.
The
Close-Till system utilizes 16 cast iron spikes which attach to the
planter closing wheels. The spikes close the seed trench while eliminating
sidewall compaction and improving seed-to-soil contact, especially
in wet conditions. The result is quick, uniform emergence and higher
yields.
The
Yetter Close-Till spikes have been available to replace rubber closing
tires on existing closing wheel systems, but are now being offered
as a complete closing wheel unit with two options. The two steel
rim halves are available with either a 40mm roller bearing or with
a water pump style bearing. Installation is quick and easy. The
spikes are adjustable similar to 1" rubber closing wheels, and are
reversible to facilitate even wear.
"The
Close-Till system has gained popularity in areas where farmers are
planting into wet, cold fields," said Gene Chenoweth of the Yetter
Research and Development Department. "The unit helps to break up
side wall compaction, but more than that, the seedbed is actually
enhanced by the soft tillage of the spikes."

in its 70th year, Yetter is the industry leader in conservation
tillage and direct seeding technology.

system is available as a replacement for existing rubber tires
or can be purchased as an entire closing wheel unit. The spike
segments are not recommended for use with nylon wheels. |
