The
Avenger® coulter system with a 30" blade is the key to
deep, uniform fumigant placement for nematode, disease and weed
control, according to the Yetter Manufacturing Company.
"The coulter
blade cuts a path that is narrow but deep," says Don Bunnell,
Research and Development Specialist for Yetter. "Unique knives
with drop tubes on the trailing edge of the coulters precisely place
fumigants 12" deep. An exclusive Double Seal System
then locks the fumigant in place, enhancing diffusion and maximizing
pest control."
Bunnell explains
that the first seal is made by sealing beavertails mounted above
the injection point on the knives, which close the coulter traces
and create a barrier deep in the soil. The second seal - at the
soil surface - is made by sealing wheels that close the knife traces.
Together, they keep the fumigant in the soil so it is uniformly
dispersed.
The Yetter Avenger,
Bunnell notes, minimizes soil disruption, even through crop residue
or standing cover crops in reduced till or no-till situations. In
plasticulture, he says, it easily cuts through any plastic and string
remaining after harvest.
"The Avenger
requires less horsepower than typical deep placement equipment and
doesn't plug up with plastic and string," adds Bunnell, "reducing
fuel costs and increasing field speed. And the durable, spring-loaded
design minimizes the risk of damage due to rocks and stumps."
Established
in 1930 and based in Colchester, Illinois, Yetter Manufacturing
Company is the industry leader in planter attachments that boost
productivity and profitability. Yetter makes a variety of coulters,
residue managers, precision fertilizer placement products, markers
and bulk seed handling devices.
The
heavy-duty Yetter Avenger® with a 30" blade permits deep,
precise fumigant placement and sealing for maximum control of nematodes,
disease and weeds. Its unique Double Seal System -
one barrier is created deep in the soil, the other at the surface
- better diffuses fumigants and creates a larger zone of effective
control. The Avenger requires less horsepower than typical deep
placement equipment, reducing fuel costs and increasing field speed,
and its durable, spring-loaded design minimizes the risk of damage
from rocks and stumps.
