The
Rolling Basket Attachment conditions the
seedbed for easier planting by breaking up
large soil clods on the surface and leaving
finer soils in the seedbed for optimal seed-to-soil
contact. The unique U-shaped crossbar design
shapes and firms the soil berm, creating
a smooth, level zone for consistent seed
placement. Good seed-to-soil contact speeds
germination and facilitates nutrient and
moisture uptake, promoting early seedling
growth.
The small, coarse clumps left behind after
large clods are broken protect the soil from
erosion, crusting, and compaction.
The use of a Rolling Basket Attachment from
Yetter is also a good weed control method.
Herbicides that have been applied are incorporated
into the soil at the proper depth. The baskets
are also good non-chemical weed control tools—they
uproot weeds, leaving them on the surface
to wither and die.
Depth is key in seedbed preparation, so
the flat ends of the basket’s crossbars
act as a depth gauge. The Rolling Basket
Attachment is spring-loaded to float independently
of the accompanying soil opener.
The Rolling Basket Attachment is designed
with flexibility in mind to meet diverse
needs. Down force on the spring can be adjusted
to match current soil conditions, and the
basket can be locked up when not needed.
The welded-steel basket measures 14 inches
in diameter and mounts on the Maverick™ Opener
from Yetter, or openers from other manufacturers.
Like all Yetter products, the Rolling Basket
Attachment is built to last. Each basket
rotates on two sealed bearings designed for
high-speed operation. The all-steel construction
of both the basket and mounting frame means
the tool will stand up to even the toughest
field conditions. The pivot point can be
greased for longer wear life, and has replaceable
steel bushings.
