The Serrated Closing Disc provides a return on investment
by eliminating sidewall compaction, which encourages root development—the
foundation of superior yields. Tough steel blades thrust and
slice through the soil for improved closing of the seed trench.
Loosened soil created by the churning action of the Serrated
Closing Disc improves seed-to-soil contact assuring maximum
germination.
“The Serrated Closing Disc wheel is the
perfect match for removing air pockets and improved seed-to-soil
contact, providing
higher yield potential,” says Don Bunnell of the Research and Development
Department, and it works well on all Case
planters and specially equipped John Deere planters.
Faster, uniform emergence and optimum root growth are the
key ingredients for improved yield potential. Research confirms
that erratic emergence greatly impacts yield potential. No amount of fertilizer
can be applied to reverse the effects of
inconsistent emergence, so closing the seed trench properly is one of the most
crucial elements of planting. The churning
action of the Serrated Closing Disc creates loose soil around the seed, which
significantly decreases the potential for the seed
trench™ crack opening. The Serrated Closing Disc is angled at the bottom,
so soil is gently firmed around the seed, while
leaving loose soil directly above the seed. This results in ideal conditions
for heartier yields and prevention of air pockets.
In today's production agriculture, every opportunity for
yield increase must come with a quick return on investment.
On a per row
basis, payback for the Serrated Closing Disc requires less than one bushel
per acre yield increase for the first 35 acres planted.
