The Viper® II’s gauge
wheel depth control option allows for True PlacementTM of
liquid or dry fertilizer and features two types of distribution
elements; the floating scraper makes contact on the blade to hold
open the soil trench, and the self-adjusting design permits both
lateral and vertical movement. In addition, the floating knife
also permits lateral movement, which reduces the need for knife-to-blade
adjusting. For precise placement, the gauge wheel has three depth
increments from which to choose for both 16” and 18” blades.
All Viper® II models are spring-loaded to enable the gauge
wheel to follow soil contours and protect against damage from obstructions.
Heavy cast mounting clamps are a special feature of the Viper® II’s
mounting brackets, which are available to fit most frame sizes
found on planters and toolbar applications. In addition to holding
the Viper® II at 4 degrees, setscrews in the clamps hold the
spring steel adjusting shank in position and speed height adjustment
for maximum efficiency.
