Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned supplier relations on both a tactical and strategic level, within the guidelines of the Supply Management team’s goals for quality, delivery and cost management.
  • Aggressively negotiate pricing, lead times and other pertinent order terms for a diverse mix of direct materials.
  • Create and execute both spot-buy purchase orders and long-term sourcing agreements to meet the needs of production, engineering, and ultimately, our customers.
  • Review, expedite and resolve past-due orders and other material delays, while regularly communicating with both scheduling and operations to ensure fulfillment of customer requirements.
  • Negotiate resolution of supplier disputes on a wide range of topics while continuously working to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate directly with engineering throughout the product development process to cost new parts, suggest design modifications to reduce cost and ensure a smooth product development process.
  • Actively analyze market conditions, reporting notable changes to management and suggesting risk-mitigation activities as necessary.
  • Maintain a wide array of system parameters to ensure automated processes function fluidly and with the desired level of precision.
  • Occasionally assist with the management of logistical activities including parcel, LTL and full truckload freight.

 

 Required skills

  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with a diverse audience ranging from production floor operators to business owners.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic purchasing, inventory management, and accounting business principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook applications.
  • Exceptional ability to analyze and leverage aggregated data to improve decision making.
  • Initiative to identify and propose solutions for improvements in tactical processes.

 

Education/experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance or supply chain management preferred, with two to five (2 – 5) years of experience in a similar role or a combination of education and experience to include five to ten (5 – 10) years of experience with comparable responsibilities.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment with metal fabrication experience preferred.
