Forklift Operator/Assembler

Open position: Forklift Operator/Assembler

 

Job Summary:

This position will float between forklift operation and assembly jobs as needed.

Will operate powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries and move them to and from storage areas, production areas, and loading docks as directed. 

Assembly job will include performing duties as directed and assigned within various assembly and production areas and departments.

 

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED required
  • Previous forklift and production experience preferred
  • Current forklift certification per OSHA standards preferred
  • Math, language and reading skills as well as basic computer skills
  • Ability to follow instructions for operating equipment and keeping records
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints as the directions for assembly jobs
  • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others and to promote a safe work environment
  • Must be able and available to work various shifts

 

Responsibilities:

  • May receive, check, count, verify, sort and classify materials and equipment by stock number, condition, and other classifications and record them in relevant logs
  • Packing and unpacking cartons and boxes as directed
  • Loading and unloading goods/product as directed
  • Moving, stacking and storing products or other materials as directed
  • Performing daily equipment checks, required maintenance and upkeep
  • Securing and checking loads
  • Use wireless RF scanning equipment for accuracy of inventory
  • Assembles fabricated parts to small or light subassemblies and complete units
  • Tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specification
  • Uses hand tools and small power tools to assemble units

 

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds and adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn, and stand for long periods of time
  • Must have a good sense of balance
  • Must be able to regularly sit on a powered industrial truck
  • Must have good eye-hand-foot coordination
  • Must have the ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending upon the season
